Donate today to help support the revitalization of a Chicago treasure, the South Parks.
The South Parks of Jackson Park, Washington Park, and the Midway Plaisance not only reflect history, they make history. For over 120 years, they have provided a setting and context for local, national, and international history. They have provided necessary and substantial green space for the developing urban environment. However, the South Parks have been degraded overtime by multiple forces, and under serve the neighborhoods and the city today, in contrast to the original intent of its creators and mission within the city.
Project 120 Chicago, in partnership with the Chicago Park District and the community, is to plan, develop, and carry out improvements in the South Parks that respect, preserve, and renew the character of the landscape as designed by Olmsted after the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition, while addressing current and future issues and needs, and setting new benchmarks for historic urban park revitalization that promotes ecology and community vitality and livability for generations to come.
